So I am still curing my rock I have done 3 20 gallon water changes and replaced a ton to phosphate remover but the water is still holding stead at .08 phosphate. Guess I keep waiting and do more water changes and more phosphate remover. Since the rock is still curing I went on and started a quarantine tank so I can start prepping fish for when I get the aquarium up and running they will be ready to go in.

Just did another 20 gallon water change on the rock I’m curing because the phosphate levels haven’t decreased any. I have had phosphate in there for three weeks too and have changed it out three times

So it’s been a long time since I’ve updated my thread. Had a lot of financial issues which caused me to put the tank building on hold. We are also expecting our second kid any day so that also put a slow down to the tank. Which is a good thing I guess since the recall on the Reefer 750, which I just got my bracket in the mail yesterday. One thing that has really helped me was I became a partner member this year and in the raffle I one the Atlantik light from Saltwater Aquariums which I am VERY thankful for. Once I get the bracket on I plan on jumping right back into it and getting my hand wet!

Got the light is I won from @SaltwaterAq and the kit from Redsea to fix the cabinet on my 750. The kit I could not put all the way on because I was shorted a screw and a cap, but Redsea says they have already shipped me another one out.

So I’ve finally got water in the tank and working on the cycle. It has been cycling for 10 days, but the Red Sea test still shows that my Ammonia has come down and from where we started. Am I being to antsy or should it have started coming down yet?

So Christmas was good to me got some good bottles of Bourbon and Whiskey for Christmas. I got what was in the picture and also 2 bottles of Whistle Pig and a bottle of Blanton’s. Too add to that I am going to pick out my first fish for the tank today! After getting everything together over the last two years I am finally at the point of adding fish!

So here is a tank update. Finally after three years, many health issues and COVID. I have water and fish in the tank! I have it going with two fish in it. Lights up love the @Orphek lights! One of the lights I won from the Partner drive way back. I also won the @Innovative Marine Helio heater system. That thing is freaking amazing I would recommend it to anyone wanting the best heater setup! I feel bad not posting anything about the giveaways I won but gotta take care of my kids and wife first.
Don’t get me started about owning a business in COVID.

Is this enough surface agitation? If I move the wave makers any closer to the top then it creates a whirlpool at the top of the water.

So I’ve got fish in the tank. Next step is coral. Where is a good place that has a lot of the beginner corals. I’m gonna check with my LFS, but I was wondering where online is a good place to find the beginner stuff.

World wide corals has a amazing assortment of stuff. I drove there from AZ in OCT 2020, they are in Florida. Came back with a ton of goodies and the staff are super nice people.
Also if your concerned about not enough surface water movement because it seems your power heads do not have a swivel point mount on them. Use them for midtank or lower water flow and get one or two Maxspect . They sit close to the top of the water edge and create sheets of water movement. They are awesome, I ordered two of the Maxspect Gyre 300 because my tank acrylic is 3/4" and 1" think and the tank is 8 feet long. I am still in the building stage. Just started building 2 (24x28) sumps and a 24x30 refugium for it out of acrylic.
I think for your tank you can use the smaller Maxspect Gyre cause they wont be too strong for your tank as the 300 Gyre would/might..be

I have two Gyres on there but I can’t put them too close to the top because they create a real bad whirlpools and sucking noise. Could I have done something wrong? If you look at my picture you can see how low I had to put them.

I think maybe you have them upside down? and that is why they are causing you issues. They are suppose to draw water in from the bottom of the unit and push it out across the top.

So I ordered a RedSea Reefer XXL 750 from BRS. I ordered it on Cyber Monday and got that 7% off. It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. With it being so big I had to upgrade my floors.

So I should be able to park a car in there now.
I ordered the tank without the lights I got mixed reviews on the Hydra lights. I am really wanting the new Kessil lights. As soon as I get the tank in I’ll post some more I am also working on my Aquascape as we speak but was having problem getting a schematic of the tank so I would know the placement of the overflow and anything else. Did I mention that this is my first saltwater tank I’ve ever done.... I’ve though about doing one for over two years now I wanted to make sure that this was something I really could handle. I hope I did not bite off more than I can chew.

If you have any questions for me or would like to know more please feel free to ask! I’m new at the reefing thing and this is the first forum I’ve ever used so I’m definitely new at this.
Congratulations! Should be fun.
