Folks, returning to reefing after a long hiatus. Was given a c-250 for free. After quite a bit of cleaning, leak test, placing, and leveling I noticed a gap in the images attached. There is a small gap across the front of the tank between tank and foam. Rest of the tank flat as a board. Being free , I could always scrap the setup, save the equipment, and get a new tank. But if this is not a big concern I’d like to move forward with working on the tank. I filled with 40 or so gallons , tank still level and gaps closed up, worried about undue pressure points and of course the dreaded tsunami of a break. Anyone have the same experience or advice?

That tank is designed to be flush with the front door of the cabinet, so it’s fine. But I’m wondering about the foam that you have there. What’s the backstory on that?

It's all stock as far as i can see. the aluminum top and foam was all RedSea. My concern is that gap at the front between the foam and tank. Tank was a freebie, spent over 5 hours just cleaning it to the state its in now. Also having alot of luck with the cerium oxide scratch removal, can see through most of the glass now, it originally looked like someone ran sandpaper on it and you could not see through 90+% of the glass.

Interesting … I’ve never seen a stock foam mat with those pressure baffles underneath. My tank just had the top black part of the foam. EDIT: just did some investigating, and apparently that’s because I’ve never looked up close from the side! Yep, mat is stock.

It’s an aluminum wafer top and they slapped the foam on it. Usually hidden by the bottom trim which this tank is missing.

Well scrapped the idea, getting that glass polished up is simply too messy and time consuming. Took delivery of an IM 75 ext on Monday.
