Hi all!

Well, as much as I enjoy it, my IM 30L isn't cutting it anymore ;)
SO, I'm on the verge of placing the order for a new REEFER-S G2 system. was considering something in the 160 gallon range, but hell, If I'm gonna spend that much, what's a couple grand more?

My plan, for your analysis:
-REEFER-S 1000 G2
-RSK 600 Skimmer
-ReefMat 1200
-2x Reef octopus VarioS6 for return pumps
-2x Reefwave 45s

LIGHTS:
- 3x RS ReefLED 160s

-OR-
-4x ReefLED 90s

-OR-
-2x XR30 G6s

The support gear is still up in the air, but those are the major components. The main thing I'm still trying to decide is the lighting. Sorta leaning toward the 2 x XR30 G6s, with the option to later an another. 3 XR30s is hard to swallow right now. On the other hand, I don't want to compromise on something that important when I'm already spending so much on the setup. Also could use some advice on circulation pumps.

Opinions? Advice? Recommendations? Lay it on me!

Been there (IM Fusion 25 Lagoon), done that! Congrats on the (soon-to-be) new Red Sea! Depending on what corals you want to grow, you will most likely need 4x XR30 G6 lights (I have a pair of XR30 G5s and a pair of XR15 G5s on my 750XXL).

I'd get the new Red Sea DC Skimmer and the Red Sea return pump with controller for both. I'd also plan for 4x ReefWave 45s to give you an optimal amount of supplemental flow. Don't forget a UV (AquaUV 57-watt or larger) and another Red Sea pump to provide flow for that. Feel free to check out my build thread for a full list of equipment that I run. Good luck!

Thanks!

I have regressed a bit, trying to plan around the room that it's going in. Trying to decide now between the RS S-1000 or the Cade 2100. I do like the ATO solution on the Cade, and the fact that it had intake weirs near the bottom. I also like the glass doors & electrical panel with switches. They also offer a few peninsula sizes that might go well in my reef room:

The smaller outline at the 45 degree corner would be the 1500 Peninsula. The larger outline is the 1800 peninsula. If I go with the Reefer-S 1000 or the Cade Reef 2100, it would go against the wall where the couch is (not to worry, the window isn't exterior, it looks into a west facing sunroom).

On the other hand, the Red Sea has dual returns, euro bracing, and a sump that more readily accepts the Reefmat. (not a hard mod though)

Decisions, decisions. Would love some guidance!

I've purchased 3 XR30s and an MP60, so those little parts are sorted.

Still trying to decide - To peninsula or not to peninsula????

Anyone care to weigh in with their preference / pros & cons / regrets?

I've purchased 3 XR30s and an MP40, so those little parts are sorted.

I would say get the peninsula, looks like a cool place for the 1800. You will need 3 more mp40s and maybe a gyre pump even too. Probably another xr30. Depending on what you wanna keep. But I think that placement would be sweet for a 1800. Only major flaw I see is the step. It will block you from opening the doors on the back of a peninsula. Maybe build a riser? I don't know. But I think it would be a sweet placement. Could even put the peninsula on back wall and be able to see it from the sun room! Haha.

Thanks!

I did go ahead and order the Cade 1800 Peninsula. I agree, it will better fit the space.
I hade considered building a riser but my thinking now - Is it really that much of a problem to not be able to fully open the back doors? Seems like sufficient access from the front and side.

another option - if the doors aren’t tempered, I could cut them short to have them swing open over the raised floor. I’m going to get the stand in place and make a decision. Also, I wrote MP40, but it’s an MP60. Still may need much more flow on the far end, but I need to do some research into what the best way to accomplish that is.

Can’t wait to get started!
