Ugh... sorry to hear. Guess it’s time for a refresh and reset!
Yes it was a terrible loss. Now I won't be able to get fish/corals again until I'm set up for water changes which will be Spring. We can't plumb the bunkhouse on the farm (where my tank is) while we still have sub-freezing weather. For the eight months I had this tank setup I relied on tap water I pumped into the bunkhouse through a garden hose from a water spigot in the outdoors. I don't even have a sink in the bunkhouse but by the Spring I'll have a hot water heater hooked up, a sink in the bathroom, my Rodi with wastewater drain setup, and a storage tank for salt mixing and water changes setup. During the 3 to 4 month wait for the hot water heater setup (we have to put it in a utility closet that has outdoor plumbing) I won't be able to get much done except the water change system.

Wow, that’ a lot going on right there! At least with all of this in the works, you’ll now have a great game plan to be more successful this go around. Good luck! :)

Time for an update. Bought the sink from Home Depot and ordered a Synergy Reef Systems T-26 Triton Method Sump. Probably won't be here for another 3-4 weeks. Also bought a Radion XR15 and need to buy another one. I sold my Apex Classic and will be getting the Apex 2016 down the road.

What are the new plans?
@mrvn The new plans are simple. Clean up everything, get the new sump plumbed, finish buying all the equipment, and start stocking. For cleaning the display I've thought of putting a bunch of dwarf cerith snails in there and let them eat all the algae that has built up. To scrape the crud built up on the glass would take a razor and I'm afraid I'd scratch the glass. I'm going to salvage as much as the pukani rock as possible and have an nice new one to replace a couple of big ones I have on top. I will have less rock in my aquascape now.

Okay just got the skimmer today here's some pics of the unboxing. I set the skimmer down in the skimmer chamber of my sump and it just barely fit. I knew it would be a tight fit by knowing the advertised footprint. The volute of the skimmer is right up against the baffle of the sump and the skimmer won't run because the water intake is totally blocked. The only way this skimmer will work is if I drill a hole for the volute in the baffle for space for water intake. It will take a right angle drill to drill the hole because a regular drill won't fit horizontally and I called a local tool rental place to see if they have one for rent which they do. That isn't the sort of thing I would normally invest in to own since I would rarely have a need for a right angle drill!! @siggy and @DarthSimon I'm in the Regal 150 sss club !!!!

When I unpacked the skimmer I found that the screw to hold the pump to the base plate was missing. I immediately contacted Reef Octopus and told them and they have one sent and it's on its way.

Did you get the skimmer drilled?
I meant to say drill the sump not the skimmer. I decided to send the skimmer back and get a skimmer to fit the sump and not make the sump fit the skimmer.

What skimmer did you get this time? When I was considering switching my current sump for a TS sump I was looking at the deltecs which seem to fit nicely there.

I've had the Skimz recirculating since I got this tank a year and a half ago. However the Skimz is extremely loud !!! So last week I received an Octo Regal 150 sss. Sad to say it does fit but not enough room for water intake into the volute. The volute is smack dab up against the baffle of the skimmer chamber. I'm thinking Octo eSsence 130-S. So I am sending the Regal 150 back and I'm going to use my Skimz for the time being.

After emptying all the equipment, water, and rock it's time to start cleaning the tank. I tipped it on its side for better access and removed the sand and vacuumed the remaining sand and dust I could get with my HD bucket shop vac. Now time to scrape the glass.
