Hi! I want to get a lid/jump guard for my Reefer 170 and I wanted to gather peoples opinions on the different options out there. I have the Red Sea DIY one on there now, but it is a mess and falling apart, so I’d really like to go the pre-built route this time. The main ones I’m looking at are the ClearView lids ones and the Kraken Reef one but I honestly don’t see much of a difference between them, so I was hoping to gather y’all’s opinions and experiences.
TIA and sorry if this is in the wrong forum…I wasn’t exactly sure how to categorize it.

I am currently in the process of approving the design of my @Top_Lids lid. I can't wait to receive the finished product. Very professional ordering/design/measuring process. I am quite pleased with them, so far.

We currently make single piece unbreakable Lexan lids for aquaeon tanks. With integrated feed hatches at no additional cost. Going to be offering third party lids in a couple of months. Looks like we can do that lid for around $120 plus shipping. It would be based on the design you see in the link below. If you want to be the first, PM me. You would have to agree to working with us to finalize the design, etc. If you don't like the end result, we would refund your money.

Clearview lids is the only one I have experience with on my 170. Basic lid here, no feed door or other customization. Been using it for a couple of years or longer. I will say those top lids sure look attractive :star-struck:

@FriendoFish Pleasure connecting yesterday, and glad we could come up with a beautiful design that could combat evaporation on your build...no one likes evap :) We'll send you your lid model to approve shortly

Have a great weekend y'all

Sure thing @exnisstech , Sure we can post some shop pics of @FriendoFish 's lid when they're all cut. This is the design I showed her yesterday, essentially a removable center cover. Evap reduction around 75-80%, and the vents on the outside of the lid keep the same gas exchange to the system.

If a client doesn't like to see the condensation on the bottom of the cover, they can just take it off when they are viewing the tank / have company over, and put it back on when they go to bed / go to work.

Also make a great spot for engravings too

Nice! Now I have to figure out how to justify a new lid when there really isn't anything wrong with the one I have that I bought from you 2-3 years ago. :thinking-face:

Totally up to you. I do believe your lid is from another brand. What else in a professional lid do you feel could better your setup, other than evaporation that we're talking about here? Like feed doors or cups for frozen food feeding

Maybe we could find a way to get you those without ordering an entire new lid frame.

Ah you are correct. It's a Clearview lid. Dang it sucks getting old. Actually the one I have serves it purpose.
