I've got one and added an InTank medium basket, a variable speed powerhead pushing water from right to left across the back wall, rfg nozzles, and a Tunze ato.
Good luck

I feel like with the protein skimmer and foam blocks it comes with it doesn't filter well enough. I could be wrong? What's your thoughts
I did cut my foam blocks in half so I could place a finer media pad (also from InTank/Amazon) on top of them which is what I change out when dirty; the sponges only occasionally. Once I tuned my skimmer, it worked fine and I have no complaints, only that it is impossible to clean thoroughly given its corners and tight spaces. I usually soak it in an acetic acid solution which removes most of the gunk.

Depends on what your tank setup is. how long has it been set up, what is the stocking list/bioload? I have the Max E-260 and do like the tank a lot, but I agree that the rear chamber setup is limited. it took my skimmer a while (over a month) to break in and run/adjust correctly. I added a small GKM in-sump UV in one of the chambers, which seems to have improved water clarity, but that could have been coincidence due to the relatively young age of the tank and cycling process...water is super clear now, but I am at 6 months.
