I'm getting ready to setup automated dosing for Alk, Calc. I'll likely eventually want to do Mag as well. I already have a Neptune Apex A3, trident and the Cor20. But I also use Red Sea for Reef Mat, and ATO. I believe I can dos as necessary with apex based on trident results, but I can always adjust the Red Sea as necessary. Red Sea does a good job as being stand alone while giving solid tech updates. Neptune seems to be falling behind, and if I eventually move away from my Apex, having the doser be stand alone seems like a good idea. Not to mention Red Sea customer support is amazing and if the Apex fails, I can still use it.

Thoughts?

I had a budget 3 head doser with no app and it was a step up from manual dosing. Recently I added the RS 4 head doser to both my tanks - and love them. Being able to raise/lower dosing via the app from anywhere really makes me feel more comfortable traveling (with daily readings from my Trident). Game changer.

Appreciate the feedback. Sounds like you did exactly what I'm planning and also went with the Red Sea. Thanks.

I don't necessarily buy into neptune falling behind. I think for ease of control the dos would be the winner because it can be programmed to follow the results from the trident and implement controlled dosing 20% either direction.

I'm not familiar with red sea products so I can't provide any information, but will say that manually programming a 3rd party doser is definitely doable.

The question becomes what you value.
