Recirculating co2 scrubber disaster. Soda lime in tank.

Skimmer over flowed and water got pulled thru the co2 scrubber.

Ph went to 9.

Alk went from 8.2 to 9.9.

I stopped the sump from recirculating. I changed 30 gallons from the display tank. It holds between 40 and 45. Ph is display is now 8.4.

I shut off light.

The sump has about 18 gallons of ph 9 water.

Should I change the sump water too? Or use vinegar on the sump water and start the system back?


Call me an idiot tomorrow.. for now just constructive responses.

Make sure to get any solid material that might have gotten into the sump. Seeing how the sump is higher ph and that the skimmer was in it, you might as well change the water in there the best you can. Looks like you caught it in time before it effected alk and pH too much

No solids made it in. Not much liquid made it thru the reactor.

I meant to put this in the chemistry thread but in my haste I chose the wrong thread.

All the coral seems fine. The acros have retracted their polyps.. which is concerning, but the digitata is open. The zoas are open. And frogspawn. All fish and shrimp accounted for too.

Here's hoping.
