I am a western PA reefer and have heaters in year round. My heaters are in the sump that is in our basement which is cold in the summer due to the AC.

Yeah, small typo. It’s a 5 gallon with a 100wWay overkill for a 15 gallon tank. I have a 25 gallon with 100watt heater and it heats up just fine.
I find if you have a knob on the heater set to 80 it might not heat to 80. I think mine is set to 84f on the heater to get to 78f. I also use an inkbird controller as a backup to the heater.
100watts in a tiny 5 gallon is way overkill. I have the same heater in my 25g and it keeps my tank at 78f very easy. House temp at 69fYeah, small typo. It’s a 5 gallon with a 100w
I ended up Running two heaters, because the water ended up going down to almost 70- 72 on a jawbreaker dominate tank
My apartment temperature gets to about 45-55100watts in a tiny 5 gallon is way overkill. I have the same heater in my 25g and it keeps my tank at 78f very easy. House temp at 69f
45-55f is too cold for me in the house! My apartment temperature gets to about 45-55
holy cow, are you a polar bear? I thought I liked it cold. I keep my house like 60-65 all year. It makes it easy to keep the tank temps stable. I run dual 100w heaters on a controler year round. My apartment temperature gets to about 45-55
