So! I posted a thread yesterday of me asking what fish to put into a 10gal nem tank, but the guy at the yard sale that sold me the tank, said that I could swap the 10 and stand(+10$) for the 20 and stand!!!!!
So!!! I want to make it a 1 bta tank, some rfa's and some coral(preferably easy and hardy sps like digi, and blah, u get it)
what fish should I stock?
THESE ARE ALL IDEAS(!!!!!!!!!):
I really rlly rlly rlly want a goby-shrimp pair
a wrasse(doable?)
a mandarin(maybe... maybe not, this is a 20% yes for me, cuz I understand the limitations of myself and money, for the pods and such)
1-2 clowns for the nem
blenny
I am gonna get Marco rock, which if you have ever used, has a lot of holes and caves!
I am gonna be using normal cuc this time instead of off the walls 40+ snails...
transferring some cuc to this tank when it is up and running!
I am gonna go slowly
clown(s) are gonna be stocked last because of the agressiveness
nem is gonna be added 3-12 months in(3 is really pushing it)
thoughts?

A mandarin will absolutely not do well in a 20 unless dosing live pods daily with a good refugium, and even then the space is not great for them. I highly recommend looking into scooter dragonets instead, there are some very nice ones and they stay under 2”, I’ve yet to have one clear out the pods in our 20gal displays, but they are part of a large system with sump. Let the pods grow in your tank for at least 6-8 months before attempting one.

A goby and shrimp pair could definitely work as once paired, they don’t utilize much space at all. Id recommend a Stonogobiops species like yasha, high fin red etc.

A Firefish/pair might work as well, and I’d highly recommend the nano inverts like pom pom anemone crabs, porcelain crabs, sexy shrimp, harlequin shrimp etc.

My favorite nano snails are money cowrie (reef safe), bumblebee snails, pink turban snails, etc.

should I, split the 10 in half(with a divider), half will be sump, other half a sick refugium or qt?

I would say any wrasse is too big except for possums, but those are expert level fish most of the time. I would say the goby, couple Firefish, a clown or pair and you’re pretty stocked. The clowns will be highly territorial in such a small environment.
would I use a hob or sump? I feel sump is a bit overkill for a 20
HOBs work as long as you have an extra flow pump/Wavemaker in there. A small canister filter would also work

when to put clowns in?
and more recommendations for fish? toss any name at me :D
My 15 gallon has a royal gramma, neon goby, 3 clown gobies (yellow, green, and black), a redhead goby, and a masked goby. It’s turned out to be a great mix, they have been together almost 3 years.

In our 20g, we have a yellow watchman goby, firefish, and two clowns. We might be able to squeeze one more fish in there, but we haven't done it. Should be fine with a hawkish in a 20g

Here it is. Unfortunately it is not jet back like my flametail blenny. Its more of a dull black, almost a dark grey. I have to admit its a bit disappointing, the color is a bit drab. This is taken with an iphone without the lenses.
