This question is for those who’ve used the meter in log mode for their aquarium. How do you secure the sensor in the aquarium while using it in log mode?

According to the manual the sensor should be level. I could use the wand to hold it close to level, but not all day if I want to take measurements in log mode. Apogee sells an accessory for leveling, but it doesn’t seem like it would work for placing the sensor at locations in the rockscape of a reef tank. So, I’m asking for advice from anybody that has done what I want to do - use the Apogee MQ-510 to measure PAR throughout the day at various locations in my aquarium.

Thank you!

I have always just used the meter to spot check, but I see what you are hoping to do. I am wondering if you could adjust the clock on your lights and move through the day and lighting schedule that way?

Hope that is helpful for your purposes? BUMP

Hi Kris - I’m not sure I understand what you’re suggesting?

What I want to do is leave the sensor in place through the entire light schedule. Log mode will determine 30-min averages, consecutively, throughout the day, from lights on to lights off. I can then see how PAR changes at the location with the light schedule.

I believe the suggestion is to have the lights run thru their full schedule quickly (a feature of some lights as demo) while you log the measurements every x seconds. Then you don’t need to wait all day to see the results.
