As we’re moving along in our journey to start our new home based business, would like to know what the masses prefer. Do u prefer to buy fish cheap and quarantine them yourself or pay a little more for quarantined fish?

I would love to buy pre quarantined fish that have been out of quarantine for at least 2 weeks and eating/doing well. Too often they’re shipped immediately out of quarantined and are thin and frail and don’t do well during shipment because of it.

Fishotel does this, 2 weeks out of meds before shipping.

Anywho, OP, that is what I prefer too. Rather pay more then QT my own (hassle).

I quarantine myself, but I don't buy a lot of fish. I've gotten great fish from Petco. Others from reputable LFS where I could see the fish I was paying $100 for. I qt regardless because fish I was told were quarantined brought in things still.

100% agree. Little more work on the business side but makes for a higher success rate for both parties.

OP - I think the question isn't what people will buy but rather how interested, and vested, are you in doing it right. Source, purchase, protocol(s), to product. More importantly are you willing to put the effort in regardless of your sales? I only bring this up as we can buy captive bred, raised, fish from the source and some hobbyist balk at the price. You are going to have to add in a price for your time and supplies so keep this in mind. Properly quarantine is an investment akin to treating the fish like a pet and not a commodity.
