@Jay Hemdal

Whole mussels, clams and oysters have been a staple food for my fish for years, fish look good and grow. I also feed TDO pellets and nori.

I just learned that mussels and clams contain thiaminase. Would I be better off nuking the calms and mussels? I'd assume cooking would destroy not only thiaminase.

Good question, heat breaks down thiaminase, but can also break down vitamins and change proteins. Does it break down thiamin? If so, it would be a wash.

The TDO should have thiamin added to it.

I looked at the ingredients in TDO-no mention of added vitamins. So far so good, I'll just keep rolling as is. Thanks!

I've never used selcon or anything like that, do you think it would be good practice to put some on pellets every day?

Do you see any weakness in what I feed my fish?

The question of course is the quantification of “some”. Also, when you top dress foods with a supplement, they rinse off as fast as they soaked in.

I prefer a good quality prepared food mixed with a variety of frozen foods.
