Dad stories, I'll go first. Now bear with me, we were kids it was the 80s and farts were hilarious. And my Dad is like the nightingale of flatulance.

So we were camping, probably Labor Day weekend. As my Dad did a walk/skip across the campsite there was a synchronicity to the farts with each step up and down releasing a near perfect pitch gasser as he strode across the campsite. My two brothers and I, the ideal audience, just laughed and laughed. All weekend. And to this day if any of us mimic this event, even in the slightest bit, all three of us know exactly what is going on and still get a good laugh out of it.

In all seriousness though, I love my Dad, and am thankful he's still here. We worked closely for over 20 years doing construction and remodeling. Mostly just him and I. And while the work was brutal compared to what I do these days I wouldn't trade it for anything. I got to know this guy better than I ever could have otherwise.

Happy Father's day to all Dads out there today! That's me the "Lifeguard"

Oh, and the pun was "dadtlebox". Any size "Dadtlebox" will cost less in honor of all those hilarious and memorable farts.

Got a Dad story? Old pics, or just want to share? Please don't hesitate.

Just noticed I have that red vice in my garage now:)

Ok that’s cool. I read something recently that we don’t own tools (and other things that last generations like good furniture), we are just caretakers of them for a while.

My dad just gave me a Stanley wood plane that was his dad’s, which he used to build the buffet currently in my dining room some 50 years ago. My son has been watching me use it building a new aquarium stand so I can only hope some day he will build something with it as well.

Great dad story btw Adam!

My Fathers Day story is perhaps ironic?

My dad was a chemical physicist who worked for an oil company and designed the chemical processes that were used in refineries to maximize production outcomes for the specific grade of oil that came from a deposit.

He retired, slowed down with Alzheimer's but he kept "fixing" things around the house. After he passed I was checking some wiring in a patio box and I still don't know why that building had not burned down. I also have little piece of drip sprinkler hose that he patched with electrical tape.

I miss him, but am glad he departed before he did burnt the house down. It was difficult to watch him get old when he was so mentally gifted when he was young.

Three stories, three jokes told.

Not a lot of background in these, but I don't know if a lot is needed.

Story 1: we are lining up for a Christmas picture, dad I setting the timer. This is the mid to late 90s, I'm in my early teens if that old. He gets everything set and to get us to smile chooses to tell the following "joke".
D: what's OJ Simpsons computer password?
Us: *blank stares*
D: slash slash backslash escape.
Us: ...

Story two: road trip somewhere. We're in the back seat.
D: Mom, what are groundhogs allergic to?
M: I don't know, poison?
D: little bits of flying lead.

Story the third: Christmas with the future in-laws. Also the first time I have met her dad. Her whole side is Norwegian and proud of it. They live in western Washington, with a large Norwegian population. There is a social club known as the sons of Norway. I am in another room with an open space between me and the party. Her dad is in the threshold. Discussion is on nationality and this social club.
Someone in the party room: we're irish. I wonder if there is a sons of Ireland?
Me: *under my breath* isn't that the IRA? (Oh no, sis I say the inside part out loud?)
Future father in law (who has been nothing but stoic to this point: *Snickers quietly*
