Hi, I purchased my first 125 litre salt water fish only tank. Do I need a wave maker, I bought a 3000 power head but it’s seem about much for my 2 clown fish I have.

Try directing it at the surface. That will give you the surface agitation you need for gas exchange and it will cut down on movement in the water.

Do you mean 3000 gph? That seems pretty strong for that size of tank. I would suggest to replace it with 2 smaller ones. 2 powerheads allows for more random flow patterns, and as mentioned above, should have at least one of them pointed towards the surface.
