My Pom Pom crab carries eggs, all the time. I have actually had 1 sucessful rearing, the baby pom pom is about 6 months old now but still smaller than my pinky fingernail. I had 6 at one point in my nano but an unfortunate run in with a stowaway pistol shrimp left me with 2. Well i was a bit dissappointed because its been 3 months since i seen either pom pom left in the tank carry eggs. Two weeks ago, i finally saw some new eggs being carried. In this shot I spot fed her some blood worms. I always feed extra heavy for the crabs anytime they carry.

These are just close ups of the egg load. This is about 1 week after the intial sighting.

Egg close-up.

By sheer luck tonight i came up to my room because i got tired of watching karate kid on tv. This is when i see my pom pom standing at the top of the tank with her arms spread wide and she is bulging her egg cartel in and out. I was lucky enough to catch her realease all of her eggs on video and take some shots. She was not in the most camera friendly position but i tried my best to get you guys some really neat shots.

Egg close up. Notice how they are not all pink anymore, they are now developed and ready to be released.

Here she is realeasing her eggs into the water coloumn!

That is supper cool! With the 6month old baby you have, what were you feeding it?

Nothing really. I dosed some live rotifers for a bit when i started the tank and i have a fuge on it. I don't know how it survived but it did. It has 1 tiny anenome already. Once in a while when they molt they loose thier anenome. I've seen one crab give one to the other who had none and split his in half to make two. They are very interesting.
