So I’ve been able to keep sticks now for couple of years. But a lot of them loose the colors they are know for. Some will brown out, some will turn more green. They don’t die but they sure don’t thrive either.

I’ve been in some battle corals grow out contests and I make it through the end when several others do not, but after the year it just does not have the growth that others do.

Chris Meckly with ACI corals was on a recent reefbum podcast and said his experience is higher nutrients need lower light intensity while lower nutrients need higher light intensity. He didn’t throw out numbers because each tank is different and such but it got me to wondering about the group here.

If you can grow sps with success and have the colors we all want, what group do you consider your tank to fall into?

I run high nutrients with “average” par or around 350. I tested the other day and my phosphates were 0.42 and nitrates 43.

I feed “loaded” probiotic bacteria twice a week. Dose 6 mL of ammonium bicarbonate daily, Kalk dosing only, and 5ml KZ flatworm stop daily. Water change maybe 5% once a month.

These are 3 month growth shots. 57E9E73B-F805-429B-8C87-B27EB02D6ED4.jpeg BE803D9D-A3E5-4B17-BEEE-33AB6A7CE549.jpeg
