I have a 65 gal seapora reef ready. I have a concern about the stand pipe (suction line) what is the proper or safe height to have the pipe? Right below the slit of the over flow or even lower? I attached 2 photos somebody please let me know the best approach.

What about the design makes it loud?
You can get some gurgling if your pump can’t keep up. Or you may get some whistling from the hole in the top of the drain pipe. It was super annoying for me trying to dial in, but once my wife started to complain about the noise in the basement, I changed the plumbing up to a Herbie and my return now goes over the back.
