Well... None of them is a "Scopas Tang" ;) speaking from a purely critical standpoint, your username does not make much sense as a water mark. :(

Also, the vignette is a little to much for these I believe, maybe it wasn't quite so dark it would be better. Other then that, I think you did OK, some are soft (slightly out of focus), and for your fish pics, it is important that the EYE is in focus, that makes a HUGE difference in the overall appeal of the image. Finally, if you make sure to keep the camera parallel to the glass, you will eliminate the distortion caused by refraction.

On the post processing, I think the images could be a little better as well. What do you use to process the files before posting? If you set a "black point" it will add quite a bit to the overall quality without changing the colors in the image.

Keep at it, you are off to a good start. :D

Poseidon; thank you so much for the pointers

. I've been trying to come up with an appropriate watermark, but haven't found it yet. I'll keep working on it; although, the user name "Scopus Tang" (misspelled on purpose) I'm actually know by on four or five different saltwater forums.

I also wasn't sure on the vignette, but prefer it over the other options photobucket provides ~ have to see if there are some other options. Do you happen to know if other options are available if you use the pro formate?

Excellent pointers on the rest; I'll keep playing. On the focus; I'm used to my old Olympus and can't figure out how to focus this canon manually (my vision doesn't help the issue), but is there some kind of visual finder somewhere that I am missing?

I'm actually using a free program PhotoImpression, and haven't seen anything on setting a black point? It lets me play with color saturation, but IMO that ruins the natural color of the image. Can you recommend a good program that doesn't take up a ton of memory and doesn't cost a fortune (free is even better).

Thanks so much.

Poseidon hit all of the things I would suggest. In general, a little vignette goes a long way.

As for software, Photoshop Elements is going to be your best value. Even more so if you have some way of getting an education discount. Do you have kids? You or your wife taking a continuing education class?

Thanks Gary, actually I'm a teacher, so I'll have to check into the cost of that program; how is it on memory though? I've heard that photoshop is a huge memory hog, and unfortunately, I don't have a lot to spare.

Looks good Randy!!!

PhotoShop is quite a memory hog, especially the older versions. I just received my upgrade to Adobe Design Premium CS4 x64 and it does run nice and smooth on 8Gb RAM, but don't know how well it would with for example my older laptop with 2Gb RAM.

How does this look to you all? Lightened the border and trying a different watermark.
