Well... None of them is a "Scopas Tang" speaking from a purely critical standpoint, your username does not make much sense as a water mark.
Also, the vignette is a little to much for these I believe, maybe it wasn't quite so dark it would be better. Other then that, I think you did OK, some are soft (slightly out of focus), and for your fish pics, it is important that the EYE is in focus, that makes a HUGE difference in the overall appeal of the image. Finally, if you make sure to keep the camera parallel to the glass, you will eliminate the distortion caused by refraction.
On the post processing, I think the images could be a little better as well. What do you use to process the files before posting? If you set a "black point" it will add quite a bit to the overall quality without changing the colors in the image.
Keep at it, you are off to a good start.
Poseidon hit all of the things I would suggest. In general, a little vignette goes a long way.
As for software, Photoshop Elements is going to be your best value. Even more so if you have some way of getting an education discount. Do you have kids? You or your wife taking a continuing education class?

I don't know how it is on memory, but I'm sure it's less needy than Photoshop. When I was teaching, my software source was www.academicsuperstore.com
