I had to think about that for a minute, I am aiming for a mixed reef but when I look at what's dominating my tank I gotta say Anemones.
I love anemones, got a bubble tip(actually 6), a few mini maxis, a rock flower, an adhesive and a tube anemone. They are such interesting animals.
They are amazing! Some have quite a sting though...even to a fish! Since we got off topic from coral I might as well mention that starfish are my all time favorites! I've got 3 Fromia indicas ATM...one has well outlived any expectations and i assure you the others are headed the same way! As far as corals go, I am a fan of SPS but can't say I like it more than LPS necessarily. I love Scolys and NPS more than any others probably!

I love Scollys too but they just don't survive in my tank except the very first one that I've had 1.5 years now. Love all the Inverts too, I have a few smaller starfish that came in with the live rock. Don't fancy my chances with a fromia so I stay way clear of that. Love my urchins, I think they are breeding in my tank.

Never seen a lobo like this, but I have trachyphyllia.

Let me edit this

Include acanthophyllia as well. Theres a lot of texture missing. At that size, i normally see lobis with 3- 5 mouths. It's odd there's only 1 visible mouth... either way.. for me... buy it please!!

I'd love to see if it's misidentified or a nice looking lobo.

It does have one very distinct mouth directly in the center...it's very interesting. The seller did mention it's bleached slightly but that the picture i posted had been taken just a day or two before. Do you see anything significant that would lead you to believe it would be difficult to nurse it back to health?
Bye, a few reefers mentioned that where they are a piece like that would go for definitely more than $29. What would you expect to see it sell for around you at a shop?

Im going with bleached acanthophyllia

And if its anything on the list of lobo, trachy 200-400
Acantho in my territory for anything above green 450+

Low light and quality marine foods to nurse back to health. Usually very easy to do as long as tisuue recession does not take place.

Wow, thank you for the pics! That looks to very clearly match it's anatomy! You really think this is a $500 + piece when in good health?? That seems unbelievable for me to stumble upon.

Depending on the healthy colorations, they get expensive here. 500-1200. Im sure no one is paying 1200. The 1200 ones go on sale for 600. So, there's that to concider.
the guy selling the bleached one, also has a healthy red acantho behind it.

The more important part is, what are the expected priced of acanthos over there?

I think you're referring to the ones it was advertised together with...here's a pic. The shop posted 1200-1500 for each of these pieces. Honestly, he didn't flat out say it was a Lobo but I assumed it was for whatever reason. Lobos are usually much cheaper actually.

I just want to make sure my tank looks like i can accomplish the task. You seem to have plenty of experience with these guys. Here's a pic of the tank he'd be going in. Like I said, I try to keep phosphates and nitrates down by water changes one or twice a week because I do feed somewhat heavy. Not only the fish, but the corals as well. I like to mis some frozen pods in with a pinch of reef Roids a couple days a week and sometimes I'll spot feed and sometimes broadcast feed. I also dose live photo every night and a half dose of AF Phyto mix daily. The reason for all the small particle foods is because i have a number of Christmas tree worms in there and while most of them are the small type, I still want them to thrive. As I said before, the tank is a 20 gallon nano with 3 clowns and inverts including coral. I have 2 18 watt lights for a total of 36 watts that are primarily composed of these and one UV diode each. I can add an additional light that's the same or I have a white spectrum light I have no use for at the moment. Here's a pic.

You did stumble onto something big.

Have you ordered from this guy before?
This will be my first time but I was planning on ordering from him before (a small mini scoly) and the day I was about to order a few corals to go with it, he told me he had some bad new and the Scoly looked like it might not be in the best of health although in the picture i really didn't see much wrong at all. He said hed still sell it to me for a discount of course but wanted me to know that before I paid and received it. In the end he decided he wanted to try to nurse it back to health himself so he could sell it for full price.

Ok.

I have not kept acantho, but i know several people who have. They are not much different than trachyphyllia, which i know mine well. I love my trachyphyllia.
They can move themselves. They will inflate to push themselves around.

Open sand bed is nice for them To get comfortable. they may cozy up against the rock work, or glass. Really not difficult to care for. They love food. You got that covered!

Seriously, you can make room for it. Lights are fine, you got that amazing plate doing well.

The coral I circled I find to be more difficult to keep happy. You'll be fine taking care of the piece in question. If he sells and doesn't change his mind.

These acanthos live in deeper water in dips or gullys on the sandbed where currents bring food to their mouths. Your tank with all the particulate feedings should be a good fit for that coral. Hope to see you posting lots of pictures as the coral adapts and colors up for you.

When I was speaking to him earlier, he sounded like he definitely is still interested in selling it. I think he realizes that he probably doesn't have the time to spend extra attention on nursing one coral back to health unless he's trying to sell it for a very high price. What really had me second guessing if I should get it was due to me asking for an opinion on a different forum and this guy seemed to think it was a flat out bad idea...here's a screenshot with names covered so you can see his opinion. You do sound like you know more about what to expect from them than he does...
