FWIW, C. serrulata is not one of the invasive Caulerpa species, nor is it banned in CA. It's fairly slow-growing, and I've never seen it produce gametes ("go sexual") in any of our systems. It's actually pretty easy to control in comparison to the invasive species such as C. taxifolia or C. racemosa.Invasive as in outlawed in the state of California, weedy. I don't know what your goals are in reefkeeping and therefore cannot advise you whether to remove it or not.
I don't think it is one of the invasive species
