Sorry I truly don't have a clue, but it looks like marine holly if there was such a thing. It's pretty cool actually, did you randomly purchase it or receive it for free or something?

Yes it looks like caulerpa serrulata. Should I remove it????

It just popped up. I have not added anything in a couple of months.

Invasive as in outlawed in the state of California, weedy. I don't know what your goals are in reefkeeping and therefore cannot advise you whether to remove it or not.

FWIW, C. serrulata is not one of the invasive Caulerpa species, nor is it banned in CA. It's fairly slow-growing, and I've never seen it produce gametes ("go sexual") in any of our systems. It's actually pretty easy to control in comparison to the invasive species such as C. taxifolia or C. racemosa.

As for keeping it, I love live macro in our setups (we're FOWLR keepers), however, as cee mentioned, you'll want to make the call on getting rid of it.

lol I guess I am just lucky. I do have a red one that I like.

Not sure what it is it started about 5 weeks ago. I also can't forget my all time fav. the cauplerpa paspaloides. I love this stuff.

The first one is Sawblade Caluerpa, I have it in my tank and it's a major pain. I've found that Sailfin Tangs and Yellow Tangs eat it but not many others will.
