So I'm claiming this thread as my build/planning thread.:welcome:

I'm planning on putting either a 60G or a 93G Marineland Cube. I'm going to drill the backside and fit it with a overflow kit from glass-holes.com, well at least that's my plan. It would be going in the corner of my living room where an inside and outside wall join. I just need to make sure one of them is a load-bearing wall, which I'm in the process of. I'm going to have alot of questions and post my build pictures as well as my on-going tank progress.

This will be the start of PlaneReefer3 :clap2:

Since, you are putting it in a corner....wouldn't a corner overflow work better?

I'm not sure, that's part of the reason why I'm here. I'm also not sure if the corner overflow will be enough flow and I'm not a big fan of the real estate that the corner-flo takes up.

I'm looking to keep a little bit of everything as my skill and experience progress.

Ok, so slight change in plans. Instead of a 60 or 93G cube I ended up picking up a used 50G cube with stand, sump, light and a few other items for cheap. Now the next step is to clean everything and move it to it's final place in my living room. I'm off to pick up some white vinegar, some toothbrushes and some razor blades.

In the meantime, here are some pics of what I need to clean. I'll post more once I'm done:)

So it's been some time since I've updated this thread. Now that I have a little bit of time, I thought I would update this thread:)

I picked up some cleaning supplies to clean everything out, I'm amazed on how well vinegar works to clean the salt and calcium off the tank and sump.

I ended up soaking a rag in vinegar and filling the overflow and threaded some through the bulkheads and left over night.

And here is the final placement where it is going in the living room and of the sump in the bottom of the stand ready to go!!

Once the tank was placed, it was time to clean it one last time before I start the fill.

Another thing I did was replace the eggcrate in the sump and placed a 24"x24" section of it on the bottom of the tank to help protect from falling rocks and help provide a stable base for my aquascaping which I'm hoping to finish tonight after I pick up my rocks and sand from another local reefer.

I ended up using a MD9.5 temporarily until I get seperate refugium and return pumps. I love this MD9.5, it's been in use for 3 years solid and still runs silent to this day :)

I stuck in a Fluval heater, and just shy of 75G worth of IO Salt. I still need to get a test kit and a few more goodies, but my first reef aquarium parameters are:

Temp: 76.9
SG: 1.025

Not even close to being finished but this is where I'm at so far...I'm so addicted to this hobby!

I'll be hanging my 250W Lumatek in the next couple of days as well as posting some more updates!

:plane:

I forgot to mention that I'm also keeping track of my costs, I'm curious to see how much of a difference there is between the quote I got from a local overpriced LFS and what I could do with a little shopping around at other local LFS.

That'll be interesting to see the difference in cost. :)
