I have been using my Sony A7III with a 30mm f1.2 manual lens (aps-c lens not full frame). I have an underwater housing for it as well for when I release trout when I am fishing and used it a few times to dip into my tank. It is kind of a chore since it is quite bulky. Here is a pic of my Tyree pinky the bear.

funny story, I got a building an obsession camera tube to try to up my top down pic game. well my nano 25g is honestly too small for in tank housing lol. when I stick my camera in with it, it takes up like half of the usable space

edit: excited to finally setup the 60g, maybe then the camera tube will be of some use.

Cell phone and a Canon 70D. I have been messing with the canon and still cannot get the white balance right.
Have you tried shooting raw and adjusting in post processing? That's typically what I do rather than having to keep changing it in camera.

Sony A6500 (mirrorless) with Sony 30mm, 50mm, or 90 mm lenses. Some photos I've taken over the years with these lenses.

@afrokobe thank you for the pointer on the white balance. Probably the best shot so far.

These were taken with my pixel 7 pro. The phone does some of its own editing which I don't like. It adds a little too much blue back in. You can really see it on the acans. Can't remember the brand but I do use an orange filter

Haha I have been looking at some of those top down tubes and I really want to try one now! Lugging a huge dome and housing through the tank is a chore! Stoked for your 60 gal, it should be way easier getting pics with the tube

iPhone 14 Pro Max, but the zoom on this thing is really bad as is the auto focus.

I see cell phones are the number 1 answer. Of course not all cell phone cameras are created equal and mine is definitely lacking, along with my skills to use it, LOL.

Picture this: What type of camera do you use to take pictures of your reef tank?

How do you capture pictures of your tank? Do you use the cell phone in your pocket or do you go for your DSLR? Have you ever used a tripod or a top-down porthole adapter? Maybe you are just getting started with aquarium photography and are trying to figure out why all of your images are nearly unrecognizable when you are just trying to get an ID of a hitchhiker, coral, or fish. Wherever you are on your journey in aquarium photography, please tell us about what camera you use to take pictures of your reef tank and feel free to share any tips!

I use my cell phone for ease of posting. Admittedly the LEDs give everything a bluish hue on the iPhone that I don’t get when I use my digital SLR, but as said, it’s easier to share with phone
