I think the thing I'm most excited for is seeing which methods will grow coral the fastest. I'm trying something different this time around and I'm feeling pretty confident in it due to how the existing corals are looking fatter already. I'm definitely not doing any trailblazing, but it's exciting for me. Whoever does win, please make sure to post your full methodology and keep a timeline of any changes you may have made during the contest.

with you on this one 100%. very interested to see how peoples methods do in relation to each other. Lots of potential data to compile with these things.

@lynn.reef.nerd
Now that we are getting frags, what time of month are we to post the monthly pics?
Will it be end of month every month?
Those that have them already need to repost a pic when everyone has them?
In going to set an alarm in my phone.
Thanks

@Dburr1014 my understanding is they can be posted anytime during the month.

So if I’m not mistaken, since you guys got your frag in August, your next month is September and can be posted anytime in September.

I’ll let @lynn.reef.nerd confirm but that’s my understanding.

Yes anytime during the month :)

I know a lot of folks have family and jobs so we can be as flexible as possible.

@Reefing102 @BranchingHammer @lynn.reef.nerd

official post for August 2022
20220826_154335.jpg

Got my frag yesterday along with an awesome battlebox from Adam. I relocated my frag to a 3" tile in my frag/growout tank thats hooked to my main display.
20220826_155856.jpg

par is around 500+ at its peak, alk 8.2, calcium 400, nitrates 5 (trying to get back up between 15 and 20) and phosphates at .05

Super stoked to be a part of this group. And can't wait to see everyone's progress.

I decided today to remove the frag from the plug and mount it directly to my rock scape.
So this is my official first pic and starting the grow out.
@lynn.reef.nerd

I have Reefbreeder photon v2 led lights at about 330 par where the frag now sits.

Went to the dollar store and got a 3 pack of rulers also today.

On a side note, I found out today the flipper makes a great phone holder while you take a pic. Just rest the phone on the magnet, hold the ruler and snap a pic. ;)
