Anyone tried the photone app on their phone?
I’m getting 3000 ppfd at the light and 68 at the surface of water , does the height of the lamp really loose so much power?
I’m just about to order 2x rs90 leds because I’m sure my par isn’t high enough for my maxima and one of my montis is bleaching.
The lamps a maxspect r6 and currently sits 30cm to the cluster from the water surface , I can lower it down to the wings so the clusters would be 15cm to the water, would this massively increase par as the app suggests? I mean why does the light lower so much through air?

I just used the Photone app and tested my tank. Seemed pretty accurate. According to their website, they are within 3-7% of an Apogee underwater. The app is slick and can be used to calibrate. It will cost $6 to upgrade to Pro, but cheaper than $500 for an Apogee meter.

There is a pretty extensive thread on the Photone app on here. Has advice for usage and everything you may need to know about it. I use the app to check my lights every now and then.

Did you put your phone underwater?

I’ve got an iPhone and an apogee so will do a little comparison check and report back

I've used it for ball park measurements and I honestly don't have anything to compare it to besides 1 other par app. I found the PPFD Meter app to be waaay better.
