Been pretty busy with the new tank, but took a break this morning and shot some pics after feeding.

this one's kinda blurry cause I had to shoot pointing down through the front glass, but I'm starting to see why they're called "rainbow" hornets

and speaking of rainbow, whew, this orange peel keeps getting more and more crazy

Nothing like a new coral to get the camera working. Picked up this LSD Dreams chalice yesterday. Think it's ok to call it a colony (in today's terminology at least). Still calibrating the color on this guy and he got ticked when I started spinning him around to get shots on all sides. Was focusing on the skirt, so front of the shot. As always, click on the picture if you're interested in the shot details.

Back at it today. Guess my subject might get repetitive, I go through spurts of what's catching my eye and obsess for a little while, but hey, this is really for me anyway.

notice the little bit of red creeping in on that mouth.....

Really want to start playing with focus stacking. Gotta get a new software add-on and a new piece of gear, but imagine combining these 2 pics (along with 6-8 stages in between).

Man, it would be so much easier to shoot pics if there weren't any fish in the tank. Getting shots of this Goniopora is a nightmare, even worse with the flipping fish knocking it around. Still, it's a beautiful coral. Only kept a couple shots out of prob 20 I took and these are still a little blurry, but you get the idea....

Been a minute, had some major losses to some of my fav corals (mostly chalices) which bummed me out and killed my pic taking. My new tank has been looking good though and trying my hand at fish pics again. Still have a lot of work to do on my fish pic skills, but here's a few.

Sad to hear about the losses you've had
Hope ull build up the collection back.
Amazing pictures. Interesting very slow shutter speeds, didn't think one could pull a nonplussed tank shot that slow even with flow off and a good tripod, clearly u can and the added DOF is just amazing.

thanks, the lens I'm using won't let me get any quicker on the shutter unless I go full manual mode, was kinda playing around to see what I'd get just using Aperture priority. Got another couple cool shots yesterday.

Oh yeah, takes a still tank and tripod (and lots of retakes cause my fish seem to also want to get in the shots). The regal has been in a tank w/o corals until about a month ago. So far no interest in chalice, leptastrea, favia or pectina. We'll see when I start moving in zoas.................fingers crossed.

A few more fish pics. Been pretty busy. Prob should have cropped and processed some of these a little more, but didn't :p

Love this shot of the Regal, showing his misbar and the transitioning juvenile spot.
