I recently bought a small frag of encrusting pavona coral . Just recently I’ve started to notice large sweeper tentacles. Can I grow this coral on my back glass? My tank is mostly softies and and non aggressive lps. I love the “fluffy” look of the pavona but I’m Leary of it’s aggression in my tank. I’m thinking the back glass is safe.
how aggressive and destructive are encrusting pavona?

They will kill any coral they touch.
They are a very aggressive coral.
I prefer the potato chip Pavona to the cactus.
The cactus and potato chip on the bottom of my 120.

If put on the back wall it should be fine. Dont put any other coral on the back wall or close withing 3-4" and you will be fine.

I put it on the back of my 20g and it killed the coral that it came in contact with. You can see how I scrapped it but it just keeps comming.

Keep in mind they grow like weeds if your system is stable.

Thank you for the info. Are they easy to scrape? Do you worry about small flecks from scraping forming new colonies? Wondering if it worth trying to contain to the background?

Not easy to scrape once established but I was able to get a thick Plastic Scraper under them and break it off the bottom and placed on my tank glass. I used a cheap magnet cleraner and gel glued it on the base and magnet held it to tank glass
