Hope your holidays are going great!!

I have just ordered a innovative marine shallow reef 60 gallon tank with accessories.

I will be (attempting) building my own cabinet.

This will be my build thread.

So I have ordered some items to start me off. Was planning on just a frag tank... But my wife really wants sand and rocks in this tank so I still have not decided.
I may do barebottom with egg crate on one side and live rock on the other.
Someone make up my mind haha...

Anyways... Here is the list of items to start me off... What do you think?

I have also ordered some supplies to start building my cabinet. I will post pics of that as I build it.

Got the tank safely home thanks to aquariumdepot.ca here in Ontario Canada!

Next I have to buy an rodi... the tank I am currently running is small so I have been purchasing water.

Bought a cheap RO/DI today. Was on sale for $99 Canadian... Testing at 0 TDs after the d.i resin so I'm cool with it. It just takes all day to fill up off my well water haha... But beggers can't be choosers. It's this or wait longer to start my tank...
If it reads 0 it's good enough for the girls I get with!!

Getting closer to filling this bad boy....

Am thinking about doing black substrate and having a tall rock structure on one side of the tank... Leaving the other side just sand for a frag side. What do you think about that?

Tbh I wanted to do straight egg crate but my wife wants sand and rocks bahaha...

I appreciate your input as now I will spend all Sunday looking into cream coloured substrates!!

Still undecided as of now though.

Pure aesthetics is a good answer if that's your reasoning... Just saying....

If I were you I would drill the tank for a sump. This would give you more water volume and options.

True but unfortunately not an option right now. I live in Canada and I am almost facing divorce as Is....it's expensive up here (kidding about divorce) ...( For now)
