Hey guys, I recently set up a new 300 gallon system. Everything is going well. I have several fish in and some easy corals. I transferred some live rock from my old 75 gallon. Anyway, all that to say that these fine dust particles in my water are killing me. I'm not sure if it's still my sand getting stirred up by my flow and it'll all eventually get separated out or if there is something else I need to do. most of the particles are really fine. IT's not air bubles. I can see a distinct difference from when I introduce air into the return. I've been using some DIY coral snow and that helps some but seems to be a temporary fix. I'm going to build one of Paul B's DIY diatom filters and run it with a pretty hefty pump tomorrow and see what I can get out of the water column. For filtration right now I"m running a reefmat 1200, but it's either not getting this stuff because it's too small or it's not making its way down the overflow.
The tank is 96x24x30. I have 4 Nero 7's in random mode with 50% max speed on the sides. I have 2 Nero 5's on 75% random speed on the back. My flow could be too much I suppose but I am not sure if that's the issue or not.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
