Part of the Gang: Angels or Tangs?

Yeah, I actually have both although just a purple tang and 6 dwarf angels. Powder blue probably favorite but too much trouble in past getting diseased and/or malnutritioned ones. I had one the purple just about killed and moved to another tank where it died from disease anyway. Same sort of story with yellow bellied hippo except my purple eventually killed that one. No problem with the dwarf angels except my orange peel that likes to eat lobo's and wellso's I don't keep anymore.

Here's one to stoke the flames. Other than purple, blue and hippo most of the tangs are just plain ugly fish IMO. No match for the beauty of most angels

I keep seeing tangs have jobs. Angels can do that job too.

For sure. My angels graze just like tangs and eat nori right along with my purple tang (wrasses too).

I have both and love them all. My dream tank will be a 10 footer and that way I’ll keep some of the bigger angels.

My purple tang is a slacker. The two Bellus Angels have been working all day.

Hmmm….tangs due to being so beneficial. But in my book nothing touches the beauty of a flame angle.

Both! I keep more tangs but I love to have angels in my tanks, too beautiful to not have!

I would mostly agree with that last comment, but I like Gem, Sailfin, and Scopas too!

I have both! Angels and Tangs in my FOWLR tank and Tangs in my two mixed reef tanks. Queen Angel, Hippo Tang, Atlantic Blue Tang and a Flame Angel in my FOWLR and a Purple Tang in a mixed reef tank and a Sailfin Tang in another mixed reef Tank.

For PURELY utilitarian purposes I choose Tangs here, but my favorite saltwater fish are Angels. I just happen to really like coral too.... (this is also why I am risking a Coral Beauty because I needed one dangit)

With all that being said, I have a Clown Trigger that eats just as much Nori as my Tangs and Angels!
