Hello guys,
well, I think it's just about the right time I shared some info about my cube nano tank I set up almost two years ago!
Here are the specs:
Start: 10 October 2016
Volume: 100 liters (26 gallons)
Dimensions: 55 x 50 x 45 (L x W x H) centimetres
Lightning: LEDs - started with Chihiros Marine (two units, 55 watts total), after a year I switched to one Hydra 26HD (just because I wanted some more control over the LEDs - the Chihiros LEDs grew corals pretty well, but they were not automatically dimmable and programmable, which I did not like)
Filtration: no sump - everything is behind the fake back wall inside the tank - Tunze 9004 DC skimmer, a ball of chaetomorpha algae and fluid filter with phosphate adsorbent media. On the bottom of the filtration part, I have some Seachem Matrix and DeNitrate. And yeah, I dose a bit of vodka because I feed a lot!
Dosing: 4 heads pump and TRITON method - I stared with TRITON 2 weeks ago (14 July 2018). Before that, I used Red Sea supplements.
Salt: Red Sea blue bucket or ATI Absolute Ocean
The tank was custom-made by LFS. Aquarium stand I made myself. I experimented a lot during the whole time. The tank was running without a skimmer for the first 6 months and everything was thriving. Then something went wrong, corals started to look very upset, STN showed up, I didn't know what was happening... I made changes to my filtration and bought a skimmer. After that, corals healed and are growing happily ever since.
Here are some photos:
Day 1 - OK, 4 kg of live rock is really not enough to build a reef...
Day 5 - final scape (A horrible scape! I had to re-scape it after a year for many reasons. I don't like my current final scape much - it was a huge compromise and I have to live with it until the last day of this tank...)
Day 20 - coral from my previous pico tank moved
5 month - before the problems showed up
8 months - problems are over!
1 year
1 year, 4 months - new lighting - Hydra 26HD
1 year, 8 months - current look at the bottom
and a full tank shot
