Hi Everyone,

so ran into a issue trusting my GHL doser.
Calibrated the pumps got all squared away to dose 15 ml of each part daily.
came to the tank just now and looks like 400ml of each has been dosed. Not sure why?

long story short my tank was running on 8DKH and Calcium 400 has flown up to 12DKH and Calcium to 440

My acro frags seem fine my concern is should I do a water change? I’ve thrown the doser offline bc I’m not sure why in the hell it would overdose in the first place, but my main concern is the tank not the dosing system.

12KH is ok as long as you are not running a ULNS. Maybe feed the corals a bit extra and let it drop on its own or just do some water changes to drop it down a little.

Thank you for the reply, I calmed down and looked at everything as a whole.
tested a few times my Alk dropped a bit to 11.8.

What had happened was this the doser had another instance running to dose twice once at 9:30am once at 9:30pm not sure where or why but my ph readings spiked at those times to 8.7 from 8.5 . It seems like a 10 hour gap lucked me out.

I decided to skip on the water change since I feel like a rise like that and a drastic fall will stress them even more. I’ll take your advice and feed more took the filter socks offline as well so more nutrients in the water.

Thank you for getting back to me. I’ll keep everyone posted on how my frags do.

Dosers give me anxiety which is why I don't use them lol

You can keep the socks in, its better to catch stuff then let the crud land elsewhere. I don't think you would get any burnt tip issue in such a small amount of time but I just mentioned it as its the only possible negative impact outside the pH spike that I could think of. I used to run my tank with an alk of 12.5-12.7 regularly

Yeah I think I’m done with these dosers. You would think that they would have eliminated the possibility of other potential programming. The app didn’t reflect the dose happening and neither did the software.

I’ll pop them back in in that case. Fingers crossed they hold up. I used to run my old tank crazy high never had any issues just I know that sticks are sensitive to large swings so I’ll keep waiting it out.
Appreciate the advice!
