Hi guys,

Need some advice. I had to update most of my heads to be a 36ml dose of ATI last night and in doing so I accidentally updated my tropic marin bacto balance head to the same as well. I have a 250L tank, where I normally only dose 0.7ml! As this has only happened once and bacto balance does also contain some nutrients, wondering how bad it will be?

I'm doing a 40 litre water change as we speak

Besides this, any other suggestions? I have a LOT of SPS frags in this system, is it likely they will die from this? If I keep an eye on nutrient levels and dose nitrate/phosphate so they are within normal range, could this resolve any issues?

Thanks very much

I don't think there's much you can do but please keep us up to date on your tank's condition

I would keep testing your tank and making water changes accordingly to ensure that your nutrients stay in balance.

I don't know the exact composition of bacto balance, however as it is carbon dosing I doubt that it will cause any major problems.

It may cause a bacterial bloom in which case I'd take the cup off the skimmer to aid aeration.
If you have a UV you may wish to run it in the event of a bloom.

keep doing water changes as you can.

I wouldn't worry about the nutrients, but I'd be watching for a bacterial bloom. A large bacterial bloom can pull most of the oxygen out of the water and suffocate fish.
