I have clownfish have the size and they always swim near it and have never been attackedBrittle stars and serpent stars have been known to try and catch and eat fish. Though some do it more regularly than others. I wonder on how the fish is doing? Does it seem to be healthy? The star may have been sensing an easy meal. Or like @EricR asked about may be a more predatory star.
