Hi All,
I've been in this hobby 10 years and always avoided Coral Banded Shrimp considering them as not very reef safe (and preferring Skunk Cleaners and Fire Shrimp). I bought another tank from someone recently (and plan to break it down to keep some of it / sell other parts and livestock) that has a Coral Banded Shrimp in it, and I'm debating on whether to keep it in my 120g or 30g (with smaller fish). It's rather large too. Thoughts on whether these are risky to snails, fish, other shrimp, or corals? I do like them, but anymore, I'm not even sure about Skunk Cleaners just because of how they steal food from coral (like my scolymia).

Similarly, in my 30g I have a Curly-Que Pistol Shrimp. The new tank I got has a much smaller Red Banded Pistol Shrimp. Think these would be okay together? Or would the bigger Curly-Que harass the Red Banded in this 30 long? Thanks for your thoughts,
--Kyle

I've never had my coral banded give me any trouble in terms of reef safeness. I wouldn't trust them with any shrimp smaller than them or with small fish for that matter. Mine tries to pick fights with all of my fish and they are 5 times his size.

I think the pistol shrimp would clash unless the footprint is big enough so they could occupy complete different areas for their burrows. I doubt a 30 is big enough but I could be wrong.

I have a Pistol Shrimp and Coral Banded Shrimp in my 93g cube. I have zero issues with them co-existing. The Coral Banded does try to steal food from my Anemones and corals but doesn't harm anything.

Thanks, that's all about what I'm thinking. But seeing as a Coral Banded would "pick fights" with fish while Skunk Cleaners just want to clean them, they do seem more risky... I'd mostly be worried about my sand-dwelling fish (pink spotted watchman and soon a yellow head jawfish).

Thanks. If I keep the Coral Banded, it would go in my 120g. If I keep the little Red Banded Pistol (which is paired with a yellow watchman), I'd consider either tank for it. Cheers,

Hi! I have a CBS and want to get a pistol+goby pair. I have a 60g cube, would this cause any issue ?

I have a BioCube 32 and have a YWG and pistol shrimp and a red banded coral shrimp. Both shrimp tend to keep out of sight with the coral shrimp in the rocks with just antennae peeking out, and the pistol in his underground tunnels.
I also have euphyllia (a hammer and a torch), GSP, a hairy leather, and a bunch of zoas, and neither shrimp mess around with any of the corals.
