That is interesting. Does the housing affect your pictures at all? How long did you have the camera for?

I don't know as I haven't recieved the housing yet. I will update once I use it. I just use my new one outside the tank for the time being. It will probably be ok underwater but I just dont want to have to go through all that hassle again. I had the camera for about 4 months and used it maybe 20 times before it started developing that spot under the lens.
It really is a good camera for the price. Do you use lightroom for any post editing? If not, then you can control the temperature settings to get rid of all the blue, etc. I only mess with the ISO while taking pictures incase the lighting is to bright. Everything else is done in lightroom.
I took some pictures the other night with the new camera. This coral is easily a foot away and this was with the camera outside, pressed against the glass. It is a really good macro camera for the price. Of course they will look a lot better once I get the housing in and get up close and personal.

Wow, that is a great shot for being so far away! It is a great camera for the price for sure! Did you use a tripod to take that shot? Whenever I zoom in that far it is really hard to get a clear shot because of lighting and any slight shake.I don't know as I haven't recieved the housing yet. I will update once I use it. I wonder if maybe your camera just had a small defect and wasn't sealed completely. That still makes me a little nervous though haha. I might be looking into a housing now!
I use Lightroom as well. When we had the camera set its own white balance, the blue was already being compensated so much with the camera settings that it actually wouldn't let us adjust it at all to get rid of more blue. By setting it to 14000K we can actually get rid of a little bit of the blue and get the colors more accurate. The oranges were also way over saturated when taking pictures with the white balance being set inside the camera automatically.
When I say automatically set up I mean I use the white balance feature that you take a picture of something white in your tank and your camera sets that as the new white balance. This is when we had a hard time in Lightroom.
I just downloaded Lightroom.. problem solved. Took the blue haze away. What a difference. Thanks

Yeah, the white balance is tricky. I took A LOT of pictures to find what worked best for my tanks. Let me know how these settings work for you.

I just got this camera and have read over the forums as well as watched the youtube videos from backscatter. I am still having a very difficult time getting true colors and getting clear images. My images are still grainy and not true color. I am using a tripod type device and have the white balance at 14000. I have also tried using a handheld blue flash light.
Any additional help is appreciated, I am about to give up on this camera.

Holy moly! Wonderful work!
You need to set a custom white balance on the camera using a white background also adjust the shutter speed and I would recommend shooting underwater as well rather than with a tripod

What are your tank lights set to? I shoot my pics under 18k typically. If you do not have enough light intensity, the pictures will always be a little grainy.

Deffenatly shoot underwater. I had a hard time getting good colors with the auto-white balance though. It always had a little different coloration and then in lightroom, it was already cranked way white and so I couldn't adjust it at all afterward to try and balance the blues. I have had better luck just setting it to 14k and then adjusting my tank lights to 18k.
