Instead of a thread, why not have a poll:

I would love to know percentage of failure. Of course we're not going to hear much about planet aquarium or glass cages. I'm guessing not as many people have those.

I really want to get the RS 350 G2+. Only other option for me is Waterbox because not everyone makes a 48x20 tank. However I hate the WB sump. Luckily I'm in no rush to make a decision.

Considering we're talking about tank failures, I can't consider a no name company.

It’s not a no name company :)

And it’s build quality is much better than Red Sea. It was designed to compete with Red Sea and IM

And if tank failure is a concern then Red Sea shouldn’t even be a consideration.

Gen 1 - didn’t think it would have happened to me. Got 7 years before a seam popped.

Hammer, been growing it for 6+ years from a single head. Wouldn’t fit in my garage frag tanks so I had to sell it.

well, when I was looking for a new tank due to a marineland rimless failure, the red sea was on the top of my list. So i went to my local store, they are a red sea dealer, very reputable and well known around the country. I asked them about the red sea tanks, they said it was a ton of the G1 tanks, and so far, they have had to replace 5 of the G2 tanks before they just stopped selling them all together. These were mostly tanks that they do the maintenance on. So armed with that knowledge, I went Innovative marine. nicer, less expensive and built better in my opinion .

Current USA I believe. They have been in the game a LONG time.

Correct! It’s made by Current USA, who is now owned or partially owned by SaltwaterAquarium.com

And it’s very high quality, the stand has 4 load bearing vertical braces when most companies are using 2 or 3. The entire cabinet inside and out is marine grade plywood skinned with Waterproof laminate

The glass is thick and seams are perfect. The materials are top notch. You can run it herbie or bean animal. The overflow was custom made for them and is sleek and disappears in the painted black rear wall. Foam padding is on the back to prevent plumbing from rubbing off the rear paint. Stand-off brackets in the cabinet keep the plumbing weight supported and prevent stress on any seams. The return plumbing exits the cabinet through a bulkhead. The 9g ato slides in and out on guides.

So clean!

I enjoy my G2 Red Sea. I also have reef waves, reefdose, reefrun, and the dc skimmer.

I will say that I’m more impressed with the equipment than the tank itself, though it is also nice.
I would recommend their equipment but my next tank will probably be custom made.

Never red Sea again. I recently started seeing issue with the seam and got a cade 1500 S2. I would spend more rather spending multiple time in the next 10 years at least.

RedSea reefer 250 V2, Set up in July 2019, sprung a leak this month (Tuesday May 7th, 2024). So about 4 years and 10 months from start to failure.
Yes, the stand was leveled, and yes I confirmed the tank was (is) level (I have a 4ft level).
The back of the tank is just a few inches from a load bearing wall.
No visible damage to the stand and no visible bubbles in the front or side seams or other indication of the leak source, The inside of the cabinet was/is dry. No leaks from the piping. The overflow box is still full. I'm hoping to find out where it leaks when I move it to the garage in a few days so that I can put some tap water in it.
