sorry the pictures are a bit fuzzy, this guy is very hard to catch on camera lol! what's this look like to you? he acts normal, no swimming into the powerheads or anything, eats well but not ravenous. but he's definitely got some fuzz going on :( there's always something going wrong in this hobby it seems

on second thought this is probably fungus, i have a habit of assuming the worst still though, second opinions are greatly appreciated!

External fungal infections are almost nonexistent in marine fish. It doesn't look like ich. It could be Brooklynella or even an external bacterial infection. The pictures aren't quite clear enough to see exactly what might be going on.

How long have you had the fish?
Any other fish in with it?
What are your water quality parameters?
Do you have an isloation/treatment tank you can use?

Hey, I've been trying to figure out how to get to your thread on fish diseases but i can't find it, would you mind posting a link?

as to your questions- i got him 8 days ago, there are other fish with him but nobody else has this yet, i just noticed it pn him today. i do have an isolation tank, so hopefully it won't spread my parameters are decent but not perfect, i do have chronically low pH, it sits at 7.9 and i haven't had much luck getting it higher

also, i'll try taking a video, i swear he knows when i'm taking pictures and starts hiding behind rocks and being impossible lol
