Somehow we've gone all this time without a wilsoni-specific show off thread! An extremely unique and hard-to-find coral that deserves some attention, and if you have one you should DEFINITELY show it off! So here's the official wilsoni specific show off thread!

I'll go first

I love them as well , trying to find more I have a few varieties, they have all changed color since being in my tank and I’m seeing more colors as time goes by, the last 2 I’m trying to bring back from the dead.

Those look amazing! I too have been wanting to start a wilsoni garden, though there's only 1 left at my LFS...

If it’s in the budget I would get it , I’m lookin g for more before a ban or something else crazy happens, this hobby is getting extremely expensive.

BTW, on the bottom image, I've never seen wilsoni grow like that, usually they dome, never seen a helmet wilsoni lol

Also now you got me worried, better stock up on wilsoni!

If you're wondering it's a ~2 in diameter blue wilsoni for $160

They are larger than normal pieces, they are starting to form the dome shape. The ones that I’m trying to bring back are the cold water ones. $160 isn’t bad depending on size , I’ve seen frags I’m talking 1”-2” going for $400 plus.

Frags?!? I don't think wilsoni can be fragged lol, the one at my LFS is a full colony, though admittedly a smaller one. I've heard enough horror stores from cold water wilsoni to attempt one lol

I’ve noticed regardless of the initial color you buy these Wilsoni at they WILL change color over time.
Yes. 100%! This is what mine looked like at the wholesaler

And what it looks like now

Edit: this is only a ~5 month difference!

That would be amazing! It does have an orange inner rim and mouths, so maybe! I didn't know I could get an orange warm-water wilsoni!
I don’t know how long you have been reefing but ANYTHING is possible when it comes to coral coloration, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Glad I stumbled across this thread! I got this guy from corals.com. I have another one coming from Queen City Corals on Tuesday then I’m done buying them for awhile. Done enough reading to gather that they like being in the dark and being fed regularly. I’ve had this one for 2 weeks now almost. LPS and softies. I keep the tank around 77-78 degrees. This specimen looks to have been fragged and has some exposed skeleton on the backside. I’ve been watching it like a hawk. It just got done having some reef roids. It’s a crappy cellphone pic. I need a new lense. Mine doesn’t fit over this 3 camera iPhone thing. Hopefully more people post theirs. These are highly underrated coral in my opinion IMG_0290.jpeg
