So as a relatively new person to salt water tanks (18 months in and lots of rookie mistakes like overfeeding, but with happy fish, yet not a great coral owner! ). I wanted to post a thread about something that was completely off my radar but a new experience. The tank (400L) today started to make some loud noises and it had me worried. The skimmer was clean, I cleaned the floss but the overflow was still noisy. Turns out there was a lot of gunk in the baffles I needed to clean to get the flow back. Hadn't thought about cleaning that out. I do regular cleaning of other tank bits like wave makers and glass but that missed the memo on that. The lesson is to clean it all, not just the stuff you can see. Just wanted to say that as the other threads about noise are usually bad input/output parameters on setting up, this was after it had been fine for ages.

What was in it?
I used to get hair algae sometimes and would brush it off occasionally. Then it got covered in coraline.

Just honesty, crap. I do worry I've stirred up some tank demon. But it was white goo

Coralline has made a nice purple dent on the rocks but no hair algae. Cyano is trying to settle in. I think the stripey would make breakfast out of hair algae honestly (she's hyper food focused) and she's been good with the aptasia.
