Thanks everyone!!!

Junior - It was very tough to pull the trigger on this one. I had been saving and my original plan was to get two D300s. I ended up renting a D3 and I fell in love with it. I have vowed to not use it on the tank though. Strictly for work. ;) I have been playing around with them both all day today. I have only one DX lens so i am happy about that. You loose soooo much when u put one on the D3. My plan is to add a few more pieces of glass when I get some extra coin. Right now I have these:

Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye (DX)
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Nikon 85mm 1.4
Nikon 14-24mm 2.8
Nikon 28-70mm 2.8
Nikon 80-200mm 2.8
Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro

ahhhhh the best piece of glass nikon has ever made (arguable) 85mm 1.4.

i had it in my shopping cart at B&H, but couldn't do it. I opted for the 1.8. not even in the same league, but i figured for my first portrait lens it would be an alright start. I took my cousins senior pics last weekend, with my 18-200 and they turned out pretty nice, so i want to give portraiture a shot.

How do you like that CMOS sensor? what an improvement. Its nice being able to shoot higher than ISO 400 without excess noise.

Sweet! My dad uses the 85mm 1.8 and he LOVES it. I just got the 1.4 today with the cameras. I used a friend of mines at a wedding we shot together and it was amazing.

This wedding season has been very good to us. I usually shoot with my partner. If you want to check out our work visit: www.lcavideomakers.com

Post up a picture that you took recently with the D200 and possibly I or someone else can use it with Opanda and check for you.

I would be glad to post it for you. Just give me all the details and a couple pictures of the camera and I'll get that up for you. PM me the info if you want or you can email me at [email protected]

yeah i was reading about the 1.4 and everyone said the bokeh is second to none, and the sharpest lens that anyone has ever seen. Even more so than the prized 14-24.

although i had been told there is a learning curve with the 1.4, and it takes a lot of practice, but for those who are willing its the best lens ever! have fun with it.

Chad - Thanks! All the pics on the site were taken with D200s.

Junior - I've heard the same. I will say this. Once you play with this D300, it really makes it hard to justify the cost increase for the D3. It is such a good camera. Actually, it is a REALLY good camera.

i think the shutter count is going to be a real issue. I think they are "rated" for 100,00 clicks. Now they are rated to 150,000.

but that aside, with the battery grip and all...600-800.

only because of the high clicks.
