Just like the title says. I have a new tank that is 7 days old and trying to cycle. While checking my salinity and tracking my evaporation rate, I saw this like guy poking his head/arm/appendage out at me. I think it is a worm of some type just not sure what.

Looks like a bristle worm to me. I’ve seen reefers say they are ok but majority seem to go with remove it from the tank.

I’ve used an arrow crab to tend the problem and they have always worked well. Cheap fix and fun to watch.

Side note. They will do some serious damage to Euphyllia if you have any or plan to.

It looks like a bristle worm. They look pretty nasty but they actually are fine in the CUC. If you don’t like them you can just catch it with tongs. They eat detritus and will hide in rocks or sand during the day.
