Hi everyone,

I'm newish to the reef side of the hobby and I'm having a frustrating time with corals. Some are carnivorous, some photosynthesize, some are aggressive, others keep to themselves, some are invasive... you get my drift.

I'm mostly curious about peaceful, photosynthetic coral that stay small, if that's even such a thing. I'm building a Pico Reef and want to avoid pruning the coral as much as possible. I also want to avoid toxins from things like leathers, even though I'll be running carbon. Basically, is there even such a thing as small photosynthetic coral?

Shrooms, ricordea and zoas would be good picks you may want to keep some confined to small rock islands but those are going to be about as simple as it gets with corals.
