never tried purigen just gfo and lignite carbon. should it be used in media reactor also and what are the benefits of purigen that i'm not getting from gfo and carbon.

purigen is for nitrate uptake, comes prebagged or loose, can drop a pouch in a sock or use in reactor, recharges real easy with bleach, if your not having time for maintenance this stuff will buy you some time

its the best product Ive ever used, recharge it every week it just seems to last forever

I haven't used the Purigen yet, although slack tide talked me into getting some. Now I gotta just find time to get it in... All I run is carbon.

You use carbon also or just purigen?

I use both, carbon is excellent for polishing water, removing voc's, toxins etc but it also generates nitrates after about 4 or 5 days in use, purigen's sole purpose is nitrate removal
