Hello, I use nyos pure to do a 10% water change every week on my Fluval evo. According to the instructions it has a dkh of 8.5.

I’m on day 5 after my water change and my alkalinity is 6.7 according to my test kit (Salifert)

my question is if I had to start dosing will doing 10% water changes weekly affect my dosing that I’ve done that week as I’ve never dosed before

Since your salt is 8.5 dkh. That's where you can maintain your alk at. That way when you do a water change it matches the current water.

no it’s not heavily stocked at all I a bit confused by it. I currently only have

1 zoa frag
1 gsp frag
1 mushroom
2 clown fish
1 algae blenny

I currently only do a 10% water change as I’ve been battling low nutrients and had diatoms for nearly 3 months which have just cleared.

I dose including the water change. Make the water change in a regular frequency and keep track of Alk just before the next change. Keeping any daily flux below .5dkh is good, less, the better.

So I’ve started dosing today.

My normal water change day is Saturday. Should I skip this weeks water change until I reach my desired alkalinity reading using the dosing solution or carry out my weekly water change regardless ?

I would change water. The impact of a small water change (10%) on alk when the alk is within 1-2 dKH of the new salt water largely insignificant.

With a tank that small

I can't think of a plausible reason why water changes can't keep your parameters WNL and stable

You could effectively do a 50% water change every single day for the cost of putting up a good dosing system
Like ive said previously I don’t know why my is reading 6.7 dkh alkalinity when I have hardly anything in it. So I decided to test my spare salt water and that had a dkh of 8.5 which would be correct for that salt water mix plus I have low nutrients so doing a 50% water change my readings for phosphate and nitrate would probably go to 0 ppm

If you're feeding your fish and coral

Your N&Ps are not zero
My nitrates are 2.5ppm and currently on the test kit my phosphate is reading 0 I have attached photos to show my zoa frag and gsp looking like crap this has been going on a while maybe a month. So after testing my alk and seeing it was below 7dkh I though lt it must be that contributing to while my 2 corals look like they do.

You're tank is brand new

Your tester corals are going to tell you your water quality, and they are telling you, "not good"

Dosing the stuff reefers normally dose, are not going to fix the corals in your pics

Not saying they don't need Ca and Mg. Those corals do need calcium and magnesium, about the same level of calcium and mag as you do

Those are not reef builder corals

What you don't have is a diverse and healthy micro biome, as evidence by those pics.

Maybe dose copepods and bacteria. Dose some coralline algae, perhaps

If you could get just one piece of real ocean live rock, you could try dosing one of those

Or

Get a 4 head Jebao doser

Dose some Macrobacter7 on the first one
Dr Tim's One and Only on head 2
Acropower on head 3
CoralAmino on head 4

That will better your tank, than dosing 2 Part or Balling Method. And will get to relieve the "I need to dose something" itch you have

Ok I though I wouldn’t have to dose this early as my tank is only 4 months old plus I only have 3 corals in there would you just let the tank mature a bit more is that what your saying ?

Dose what I added to that last post

You need to "mature up" your tank before you need to start real reef dosing

Think of this way

You are actually trying to create real live rock, in your tank in your living room, right now

Even in the ocean, that takes 6 months. And best if the rock has been there for 2 years
