Hello everyone I have a 28 gal that is almost done cycling and salinity is at 35ppt I can give other info later on today but I’m wanting to use Red Sea pro reef salt and bump my numbers up I haven’t really done a water change mainly just adding RODI water but I was given copepods and some gsp I was told it should help cycle it pretty quick so far so good my main question is if I do a 50% water change on the tank will it kill the copepods and gsp? Again I can post everything on my tank later today

copepods will not cycle a tank faster.

I would not change the water during the cycle, let the cycle finish. What are the ammonia and nitrate levels?

Don't try to change any numbers or parameters, during the cycle you maintain the salinity and temperature, thats it. Complete the cycle first, worry about the other parameters later

Good to know so I should just keep topping off with RODI water? I know I don’t have any nitrates at the moment but I can get the ammonia rates for you later I’m currently at work and thought about this I got the tank and everything together on the 11th I added live rock and sand and I added Fritz zyme and have been adding food every couple of nights to it I don’t add a lot is there anything I could be doing to kind of boost the cycle? Also should I do a 50% water change after it cycles?

Yes let us know the ammonia level. Seems like you've been cycling for a few weeks now, and you mention you added live rock, so I think the tank is cycled already. Water change will depend on the nitrate level, but if you stated with true live rock, the nitrates will stay low.

Yea all my live rock came out of a friends old fowlr tank I have about 5 pieces of live rock most small I have one big one but they all came from a setup that was at least a couple years old I will update once I get to my home and can give you ammonia levels I do know I have no nitrates or nitrites because I’ve been testing for a couple weeks with no luck on those

My ammonia is .25 ppm I can also give other levels as well if need be my nitrites and nitrates are both at 0 ppm or there could be some and the kit I’m using just doesn’t pick it up but they read at 0
