Alright got a new pectinia currently in QT as when I was dipping there were multiple suspect things. See attached pictures. Looks like red eggs, not sure what the long squishy black thing is either.

And help is appreciated.

Will this guy be fine in qt without true reef light or should I put my spare on the tank?

Just dip it in coral rx and all that stuff will fall off and die. Then put it in your tank. QT is for fish…

Before people jump down my throat, I am aware some very small number of people do QT corals, but I’m sharing my opinion that it is total overkill and completely unnecessary.

Usually this is what I do, but these pictures are during dipping with coral rx, and almost none of it would drop off. Last I checked dip doesn’t kill eggs and these wouldn’t scrape off nor would the black work like line.

Ah, gotcha. I’m having a hard time seeing the critters you described. Could you circle them in your pictures?

Ill try and take some better ones tomorrow. Circled the areas. Some look like black eggs, the long one is something black and slightly squishy, and then it's hard to tell in the picture but 2 of the circles in the top down picture are around what i believe are aefw

I wouldn’t really be concerned pectinia hasn’t historically been a coral that carries pests that consume coral. It just looks like sponges and other stuff that will probably die off after the dip. I wouldn’t be concerned.

This concept of having pretty much a hermetically sealed reef tank is unreasonable and pretty much impossible to accomplish.
