I've always heard that lionfish literally eat on the first day of shipment but mine seems to ignore food and has a little bit of a sunken stomach, should I start a treatment of praziquantel and metronidazole as a preventive measure? He is currently in a quarantine tank.

Mainly shrimp since I did hear that they love shrimp, aswell as squid and some smaller pieces of mackerel, i did start the medication due to him not even moving much and staying in one spot, after the medication he's become a lot more active should I take this as a good sign? If he still doesn't eat I don't mind going to the store to get some ghost shrimp or even get some ordered

He was more lethargic when I first got him, it was definitely a bit hard to get the picture of the stomach thanks to his gorgeous fins Lol, the stomach does look a little bit of a U going inward

Never thought a fish could be more picky than the 6 eels i had first bought Lol

They eat live food and he looks fine.
I have never trained one to eat dead food but I think it’s possible?
Good luck

Definitely, this is actually my second time keeping one, the one I had gotten before came in eating dead food on the first day but suddenly stopped eating after 6 months and passed away, according to lionkings threads i believe it was internal parasites since I didn't deworm him, this time I'll deworm him and try again, lionfish was the first fish which got me into this hobby, so I would love to have success with this as Ive had with more sensitive eels

Just give him a couple of days. Every lion I have kept has eaten nothing but frozen. Sometimes it takes getting the food to dance around before he will start eating. I have used fishing line, tongs, etc. My current lion wouldn't eat at first either, and now he eats flake food in addition to his shrimp and fish lol.
