anyone know what these spots are? Added her yesterday to the DT. Did not QT due to the last two fish Ive gotten dying in QT within a few days of getting them (the sohal and then a tiny powder blue tang). And shes a pretty big fish for a 15 gallon QT, wouldnt be able to move around much and I felt that would stress her out. Shes active and picking at rocks I just noticed these this morning. Ill need to treat the display tank (only invert is a horseshoe crab and my 3 eels and a puffer for copper sensitive livestock). Just was not sure what it is exactly since it didnt look like ich to me? Really dont want to lose her since I just got her and shes my dream fish!!! Ugh.

Not uncommon to see and often stress related but hard to see on my phone but other can be skin irritation and even protozoan
Is fish breathing normal and eating?
Any other unusual noticeable signs?

Shes eating a little, more picking at the rocks and food when it falls. I do have tangs so they are super zippy with food so I think shes still adjusting. But shes active and normal breathing, just the spots is all I noticed

This looks like Ich - did you QT? If so, how? It could be non-specific irritation - if the fish is doing well - watch carefully. Are the spots coming and going - If so - it suggest ich. (to me its almost certainly ich) - but - are there any other symptoms, fish sick etc? Nice fish in any case.

Need. Clearer pics to determine as I mentioned protozoan and need to confirm. Water quality issues will cause this also

No QT as I mentioned in my first post she is too big for a 15 gallon QT so I put her in the DT. And no other fish have symptoms just her

Its also not white “dots” like ich. Literally looks like small faded color spots which is what I wasnt sure what it was

It could be non-specific scarring from an infection previously - however, the way I do it is to watch whether spot xxx moves to spot yyy over a couple days. I don't think there is an emergency to treat - however the fact that you didn't QT - (no offense) - concerns me..

@littlefoxx i think that’s stress related. My Emp has show similar spots, particularly when I added a larger queen angel and his reign of king was ended - was not happy about it. And also when I added a sulfur Denitrator, the change in water chemistry seemed to upset him.

Im very confident that is not ich or velvet for that matter, they look like blotches & actual difference in skin coloration, and not nodules on the skin. They went away completely by themselves when they did show up fwiw.

Yeah I usually do but she just wont fit in my typical QT tank! Usually I get Juveniles and its fine for the QT but shes like a 6 inch fish! I just felt that would do more harm than good for her since she wouldnt be able to really move at all in the QT/holding tank I have

Cool thank you! Would make sense cause they are pretty much gone now when I just checked. She did wander into my maroon clown’s area and they went after her which Im sure was stressful!

that could have also caused the spots (i.e. stings) I'm going to unfortunately disagree that they are stress related.

I will keep an eye on her. I always have ruby rally and kicm ich, plus kanaplex, metroplex and prazi on standby just in case
