Many of the threads do say to use kanaplex but I don't have kanaplex and it may take atleast a week to arrive if ordered

I wanted to use metronidazole and praziquantel to treat internal parasites and i wanted to mix in a medication similar to Ruby rally pro which has formaldehyde as a stabilizer and malachite green aswell as acriflavine, could I use all of these at once?

The wound is below the mouth

Ruby is acraflavine, not formalin. Based on what you are using, General cure would cover some of these meds. I suspect you are overseas and will want to use Seachem neoplex or Waterlife myxazin. This looks lie a small wound and some of the meds you have will not be needed

Do you know how this began, was it an injury?

The main issue would be bacterial infection. However, eels are pretty tough in that regard, and if this is simple injury I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you don't know how it started, or if it is growing larger, then that is more of an issue.

None of the drugs you mentioned are primary antibiotics (metronidazole has limited benefit against certain bacteria). True antibiotics, dosed in a treatment tank would be your best bet. However, waiting a week is too long. Can you get ANY antibiotics?

What is that white spot below the start of the dorsal fin?

I don't know how it had gotten it since I had just gotten this eel today from the shipment and it might've gotten hurt whilest getting caught in the wild by either a fish trap or a hook but my lfs says that they make sure they don't get eels caught by a hook to bring them in a more better condition

As for the types of antibiotics I could get

I could get many but i could only get them in tablet form for example

Aceclofenac with 200 to 500mg

Amoxicillin 200 to 500mg

But could I safely dose any antibiotics? Because I have about 6 damsels and 2 others eels in this same quarantine tank

But it would be hard to find something which doesn't have a form of stabilizer such as titanium coating etc mixed in

As for the white spot that might've just been the glass since it's a quarantine tank I don't clean it as much haha

Here's a more better picture of the wound

Here is another option - try feeding this eel. If it eats, then this is likely to be superficial and not need any treatment. If it doesn’t eat then it is either still recovering from shipment or this jaw lesion IS serious and will require treatment.

I can’t comment on the antibiotics that you mentioned as you said, the binders in the tablets can affect dosing, etc.

Thank you! For now I'll just treat with metronidazole and praziquantel for parasites and tomorrow I'll be getting a bamboo shark so is it necessary to quarantine the shark? Or should I also do a detox for parasites on the shark?

Only a few diseases go between sharks and other fish (including eels). One serious issue is Amyloodinium (velvet). Sharks can get that disease, but the common treatment with copper is not well tolerated by sharks.

With Ghost I just observed her and let her heal on her own. The slashes went away completely in about 3 weeks
That gives me hope with the high fin! I was worried on the types of meds I should use, when ghost had those injuries how long did it take for her to eat?

Its really surprising to see that your eel was injured so much since it's more of a common species, the eels I'll seen injured badly are more of a rarer species since they are mostly caught my hooks or cyanide, i believe mine was caught with a hook hence the jaw lesion

I see, thank you for information, i was indeed going to order a shark today until i did more research on goiter, the nitrate levels of my predator tanks sometimes exceed more than 50ppm and that will indeed most definitely cause goiter

Are there any exceptions to this? Like injecting multivitamins everytime to their food or is it that it's hormone gland just won't be able to absorb iodine even if it is available?

Yeah I really have bo idea what or how she got that injured. She took about 2 weeks to come out and eat. I didnt use any meds with her and I put her in my DT right away to let her get comfortable. Ivar took to her immediately and curled around her like he was protecting her

Shark goiter can be avoided by adding potassium iodide to the food (Mazuri makes a shark vitamin).

Thank you for showing another way, i sadly won't be able to get mazuri since it isn't available in my country, hence I've cancelled the idea on getting the shark, i believe that it isn't worth the risk but I would've probably tried it if that particular company was available here

Is the wound getting worse? There seems to be a small lump

Yesterday I added about 350mg of metronidazole in tablet form and about 0.4 grams of praziquantel powder for a total of 80 liters of water

Should I also dose waterlife mixazin? Its a main blend of malachite green and acriflavine

Or should I order kanaplex and hope for the best? There also seems to be another hook injury on the gray faced moray

I found a website where I could get the medication in about 2 to 3 days, it seems that there are two, seachem kanaplex and sechem neoplex which both seem to treat bacterial and fungus which one do you recommend?

@Jay Hemdal
I typically use Neoplex for bacterial diseases. The other drugs you have are for protozoan and metazoan bacteria and I just don’t think those will work in this case.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll get the neoplex as fast as possible
